Here are a few good Thanksgiving books to take with you on that long drive to the relative's house, or to keep the kids out of the kitchen if you are cooking!!
The Bag I'm Taking To Grandma's by Shirley Neitzel, published by Greenwillow Books, New York. This delightful story is written in rebus style (pictures replacing some words) and tells the hilarious story of what a child wants to take to a visit to Grandma's house. The problem is fitting it all into a bag and not having to rent a U-Haul!
A Turkey For Thanksgiving- by Eve Bunting, published by Scholastic, Inc. New York. This is probably my favorite Thanksgiving book. I don't want to give the ending away, but let me say that a certain turkey is hiding because he hears that a certain family is planning on having him for Thanksgiving. A wonderful story with a powerful message.
'Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving by Dav Pilkey, published by Scholastic, Inc. New York. This cute book is a rhyming book that uses the famous "Twas the Night Before Christmas" format to tell a funny story.
Thanksgiving in the Barn by Nadine Bernard Westcott published by Little Simon, division of Simon and Schuster New York. This pop-up book tells a funny story about what everyone, even the turkeys, have to be thankful for.
The Thanksgiving craft is in the post to follow.
